  • Dragon Lunar New Year 2012~

Embracing Chinese New Year once again, Spring is in the air~

Dragon year is finally here again! And I'm too a dragon baby! Meaning to say, I'm going 24! (Gosh, so old! T^T)

Decided to skip past the inital planned post & write up on my lunar new year instead, before it's over (15days~) Still have yet to done up my Xmas post! Photos-blogging is really time-consuming & not for someone working shift work like me!

As with past year, I spent my lunar new year working all the way, getting cursed & sweared throughout. Hoping that the guests are in such bad temper because they have "donated" much to us. *Prayed for higher bonus!* CEO has yet to announce our bonus & my neck is becoming like giraffe =x

Despite all the busy-ness, I managed to sneak some time out from work & get myself soaked up in the festive mood. Hey, i deserved it ok! =P

To make things easier, & worried that xanga small little uploading space will not allow me to upload too much photos, I've done up some collages instead.

    21st January 2012

Headed to Malaysia Food Street within Resort World beside Universal Studio for dinner before going to watch Voyage De LaVie show. Saw a double arc rainbow while walking towards the Food Street. Pretty pretty~too bad phone camera is not able to capture the double arc.

    11

Love the whole concept of the food street. Had my much craving chicken rice ball there. The price is a little bit steep as compared to outside, but one of the cheapest around within resort already. Forgot to include the rice ball picture into the collages, but still, i prefer the one that I tried in malacca instead. Cant wait to go again!

    12

Some sneaky peaks inside the Voyage De LaVie show threatre. No photography allowed. The show was good. But in comparison to the previous cast, it just doesnt seems to have the charm.

    13

    24th January 2012

Finally an off day, & to the much awaited Sentosa Flower 2012! 春节花会2012

Walked through the whole place within 2 hours, much earlier than expected, thought will spend the whole day there. Didnt take as much photos as the previous time when I went years ago. Still, nice to be there =) 春天的感觉,真好!

Went out early morning to Harbourfront Centre KFC for breakfast. Followed by which, took RWS8 from Harbourfront Interchange and headed into Sentosa and alight at Beach Station. Luckily headed there early, missed the hot weather & crowd =)

    Started with "Sea World"

    1

Walked through Beach Station & headed toward Merlion at Imbiah Station

Saw "Dragonfilies", "Awakening Dragon 画龙点睛" and "Floral Zodiac Dragon"

     2

Up the escalator & reached "Tree of life"

    3

    4

Followed the trail & reached "Tea Journey"

    5

Last but not least, at the highest peak "Sweet Love"

    6

Marched down to KFC at Imbiah Station for lunch (not alot of choices anyway), & saw this really cute little caucasian girl playing near the fountain area there. Alot of people were trying to take photos of her, including myself

    7

Before we know it, already reached Resort World

    8

    9

Whole day of walking is really tiring, & thus a chillax with "Ice Blended Sunrise (orange + vanilla) at Coffee Bean (*note to self : not to my liking, shall never order again =x)

    10

Afterwhich, headed over to my Muay Thai coach, Coach Jason's house to Bai Nian. No photos taken, thus, nothing to post. Nice to see all the people from The MuayThai Workshop (TMW) once again. Not forgetting, as always, manage to hitch a ride from my idol, Louis!  He'll always be my muay thai idol! Cant wait to see his upcoming match! ^^V

    27th January 2012

My nu ren finally bought her house! After 7years of courtship, she & her bf is finally tying the knot! Their ROM is coming up & I shall blog about it after that. The main focus it, although her house is not fully furnished yet, I went over for a steamboat session! Yippie! My 1st & only steamboat for chinese new year!

    1st February 2012

Was recently craving for dim sum badly & while googling online, came across this Ban Heng Pavilion Restaurant dim sum buffet. As with online, it was stated that the dim sum buffet was $12.80++ per adult. Went all the way there @ 1 Maritime Square (Harbourfront Centre) only to realise it was $19.80++ per adult. Not sure was it an CNY hiked up or what. Something to try only once & no more.

Reached there only to be informed that the buffet is only for a table of minimum 4pax, & if no reservation is done, we have to walk through the car park to another entrance, like, seriously?? It was rather crowded, as there were tour groups around & also, a very huge area of about 10 tables were reserved for a company's event. Nevertheless, managed to get ourselves a seat, & while staring at the ever-busy, bochap staffs rushing around the area, got our order & eaten everything that we wanted. Around 10 plates, & paid $50.15 for two pax including GST & Service charge. Roughly about $4 per plate. For the restaurant-style buffet, still considered reasonable.

The whole area was designed like a wedding dinner banquet and the food was so-so. Wouldnt recommend it to anyone, should you ask me.

Ordered namely carrot cake (abit burnt & too oily), prawn roll seaweed (credit to the rather fresh prawn), chicken paw, soup (no idea is what as it was self-served with no name left there), & porridge.

    15

Siew Mai, my must-order whenever i eat dim sum (but the meat is super not fresh & i didnt even finish it), spinanch (quite good), deep-fried chicken & prawn roll (the worst of all the order), bo luo bao (my favourite of all! the one with the flower de, haha. But can only order once! argh!) Ha gow (another must-order but the prawn not too fresh also, apart that there's no pork & is fully prawn inside), pork rib.

    16

Two different type of self-served dessert (with no name still) and some other noodles & fried bee hoon which i didnt touch as I only wanted dim sum.

    17

    *****

That basically sum up what I've done for Lunar New Year 2012. Will not be heading anywhere elses till 元宵节 (15th of chinese new year) is over as I will be spending all my time at work zZz

I enjoyed myself this Dragon Chinese New Year 2012~What about you?

  • " Eat, drink and stay gorgeous"

Christmas Season is round the corner & I'm sure many of you are planning for parties, including myself.

As much as the fact that similar to previous year, i'll be slogging my life out serving guests through the whole christmas and new year season, this year's plan between colleagues is to head out for a christmas buffet dinner, slightly earlier than the actual day itself. We had a christmas dinner in the function room of one of my colleagues last year.

I was actually planning to just head out to feast during my off day, even deciding the place. But now i'm still considering about joining the christmas buffet dinner. It's not going to be cheap, cause all the choices given are at least $50+. Two or three rounds will burnt a huge hole in my pocket, not forgetting all the gifts.

Okok, i know i'm getting kind of carried off about the parties. The main focus of this entry is about preparing for the parties itself. You know, feast & feast & how we will all end up after the whole feasting season?? That's when I saw about this article, from xinmsn of course! Haha, one of my usual site while at work. You know, not able to surf net at work is horrible!

If you all are trying out any of the tips, let me know if it's effective ok =P

    *****

    1. The weekend is the best time for some outdoor exercise. Explore the Treetop Walk at MacRitchie Reservoir, jog along the beach with your four-legged friend, or even sign up for paintball to burn calories without realising it.
    2. If you cook right, you'll eat right. Start planning your workday diet a week ahead and load up on healthier choices; choose wholemeal bread, brown rice, tuna, nuts, vegetables and low-fat salad dressings. If you have these items in your fridge, it'll be easier to pack lunches to work every other day or so.
    3. Build up cardiovascular fitness. Michael Teo, a freelance personal trainer (www.michaelteofitness.com), suggests adding in full-body exercises at regular intervals, to make your routine more productive. Try running for five to 10 minutes and then doing 10 push-ups, followed by another 10 minutes of running and 10 burpees and so on, until you've reached your target cardio time.
    4. Want JLo's trim tummy? Teo tells us, "Abs thrive on consistent and frequent workouts. Work your way up to doing crunches every day." And doing a million crunches is not the way. Teo says, "It's not the quantity that counts, but the quality. Do your repetitions in a slow and controlled manner, keeping the tension in the abs at all times."
    5. If you have to indulge in chocolate, go for a healthier option. Teo recommends ditching milk chocolate in favour of 70 per cent (or more) dark chocolate. And instead of snacking on candy bars or ice cream, try a healthier option like Nature Valley Oats'n Dark Chocolate Granola Bar, $6.30 for six bars.
    6. Need to cut calories in the lead-up to the party season so you can look svelte in dresses? Teo recommends having a few zero-carb dinners this week. "Eat all the vegetables you can and match them with a good source of lean protein like fish, chicken or lean beef."
    7. The best way to tone your butt? Teo suggests doing squats with a wide stance to work the inner thighs and butt muscles. "The lower you go, the more you activate your butt muscles. The lowest you should go is down to when your thighs are parallel to the ground. Hold the lowest position for 10 seconds. Aim for at least five sets of 10 to 15 reps."
    8. Need to reduce belly bloat? Try ELLE's favourite "flat belly water". To make this brew, mix one teaspoon of grated ginger, a medium lemon, a medium cucumber, and 12 spearmint leaves. Mix the ingredients into a large pitcher of water and leave it in your fridge overnight. Drink as many cups of this "magic water" as you can each day.
    9. If you want to avoid pre-party bloating, stay away from these foods: Chewing gum, salt, alcohol, fried and spicy foods, caffeine -- and, of course, excess carbs.

That's about it. The next one I'm going to upload is going to be even more interesting! I was laughing like mad at the counter until my stomach hurt so badly

Wait for my next entry! In the meanwhile, I'm going back to counting my off days and salary

  • 1 year & counting...

For those of you who are not aware, 4th Oct' 2011 marked my first year working in the casino.

I remembered when I was still schooling, I rejected a waitress part-time job in the casino because the grooming standard was a tad bit too mafan for me. To think after one whole big round, i'm back in the casino again.

This, is my very first full-time job. To be of frank, I still dont think i'm stepping foot into the 'real world' because colleagues here are all still very nice, yet. I do meet people of all walk, from the 'auntie/uncle-next-door' to the millionaire or even billionaire. Guests attitude can range from very nice, to very nasty. They can be all nice & polite, or they can start pointing their fingers at you, literally, & started screaming all sorts of vulgarities, cursing and swearing at you. The only response we can have? Just tolerate & smile. So much for being in the service line.

If you ask me, this is a very challenging job environment, not plainly of the job scope itself, but of the money we handle, the compliance issues, the guests we face and even the management. Just within my own department, there's around 10 managers and we work with different one every other day. Each managers have their own style of working and we have to work in accordance to their style, or get screwed upside down. Not forgetting the numbers of directors, vice presidents, etc etc. We face different changes to rules & regulations daily, so as long as we're off (say two days), all the procedures will change again when we're back on shift. Yes, it's that fast.

Shift work gives us big headache, but nice for people like me who dont enjoy working in the day. Yea, I'm on my day shift now after 1+month of not working in the morning. Headache for the past few days. The plus point, shift work actually gives us flexbilities in our schedule. I can choose to change shift with people, change my off days away, or even change till i have enough off days to go for holiday. On top of that, because we need to work on public holiday, we can actually get public holiday in-lieu (PHIL) where i can off set on other working days & change it into an off days. Just this year alone, my PHIL is almost one times of my annual leave, meaning, I have close to 30days leave per year. Not forgetting, we can get OT pay so I tried to clock in OT whenever i dont feel too tired on my off days or when I feel too broke for the month, haha!

Just a photo to show for those who never come in before (before i bored you guys out with my 'essay')

    Picture 1

The designer's sculpture that cost $8million. It's known to be for some feng shui de.

That's about it for now. I'm just plain bored at the counter, hais~On a happier note, today is my last morning shift till the end of next month, woohoo! I'm off tomorrow (Deepavali)! Double yaahoo! Still can claim my leave for this public holiday on other day, yay! Not forgetting, I'm flying off in a few days time...again!!~

My job is not that bad after all, right? *self-convince*

  • Try them out~

    From xinmsn:

    The ultimate A-list body

We take a look at the best bodies in celeb-land and show you how to get them.

    Jennifer Aniston(AP File)

You've all had that conversation with your friends about which celebrity body part you wish you had. Have you always wanted rock hard abs like Nicole Scherzinger or toned thighs like Heidi Klum?

We take a look at the best body parts from the A-list and show you how you can get them with top fitness tips.

    Camern Diaz(Wireimage)

    Cameron Diaz's arms

Cameron keeps her arms toned and defined with a variety of exercises, such as press-ups, tricep dips and bicep-curls, as well as some pretty intense martial arts. She was recently photographed with quite muscular arms, which shows she has been lifting heavy weights over a sustained period of time. Fitness expert Gavin Walsh (www.thebootcamp.co.uk) warns that lifting heavy and often will help you achieve a more muscular look, but just be careful not to over-do it! Aim for 12 to 15 repetitions with a weight that allows you to do no more.

    Nicole S(Wireimage)

    Nicole Scherzinger's abs

If you want abs like Nicole then the first thing you have to do is remove the excess fat around the stomach. Boot Camp trainer Gavin Walsh recommends a mixture of high-intensity cardio and full body resistance training which will accelerate fat loss, and then you can focus on your abs. Try these moves to target the ab muscles:

    1. Russian twists - start by sitting on the floor with your knees bent and your feet together, flat on the floor. Hold your arms straight out in front of your chest with your palms facing down. Lean back so that your torso is at a 45 degree angle to the floor. Twist your upper body to the left as far as you can, pause, then reverse the movement and twist all the way back to the right as far as you can. As you get stronger, hold a light weight in your hands as you do this.

    2. Bicycles - lie on the floor and lace your fingers behind your head, bring the knees in towards the chest and lift the shoulder blades off the floor without pulling on the neck. Straighten the left leg out while simultaneously turning the upper body to the right, taking the left elbow towards the right knee. Switch sides, bringing the right elbow towards the left knee.

    3. Leg raises - lie on your back and raise your legs up to a vertical position then lower again. Do not touch the floor with your heels. You can add resistance with ankle weights or by holding a medicine ball between your feet if it's too easy.

    Pippa(AP File)

    Pippa Middleton's bum

Pippa Middleton is a fan of Pilates. But while it is a great way to tone it doesn't get the heart rate going. Justin Way, of Pure Gym Edinburgh (www.puregym.com) suggests to team it with regular cardio workouts like jogging and tennis. "Tennis is great because of the short, sharp movements where you're firing your glutes," says Justin. "You want exercise that works the glutes more intensively, not lots of cardio."

And one intensive move that's perfect is bum raises using a Swiss ball, he adds. Lie on the floor, with your lower back on the ground, your knees bent and feet flat on top of the ball. Lift your bum up towards the ceiling until you're making a line through your knees, hips and shoulders. Contract your bum hard at the top and lower slowly down towards the floor. Before you touch the floor, repeat the move until you've done 8 to 12 repetitions. Do two to three sets.

    Heidi Klum(AP File)

    Heidi Klum's legs

Back in 2008, supermodel Heidi Klum insured her legs for an enormous £1.1 million. And what a pair of pins she has! But while we can't all be blessed with the lovely long legs, there are exercises you can do to define and tone them like Heidi.

Squats using dumbbells is a great way to tone the front thighs. Hold a pair of light dumbbells in each hand, keeping your arms by your sides and stand with feet shoulder-width apart. Lower your body into a squat position, keeping your back straight and chin up. Slowly straighten your legs and return to the start position. Perform the standard squat for 15 to 20 reps for three sets.

For killer calf muscles why not grab a skipping rope. Skipping forces you to stay on your toes and whenever you use your toes you use your calves.

    Katy Perry(Wireimage)

    Katy's Perry's décolletage

If it's a fab décolletage and a pert chest your after, like lovely Katy Perry, Gavin Walsh suggests you focus on press-ups and flys. He says "you can do press-ups on your knees if necessary, but a better way is to put your hands on the coffee table and your feet on the floor. This makes the exercise slightly easier, while teaching you the correct technique." He adds, "flys are also a good way of enhancing your cleavage: lie on your back and hold a dumbbell in each hand or something similar that weighs a reasonable amount. Keep your hands level with your shoulders and then take them away from your body in a semi circle pattern so that they almost touch the floor and back to the middle. Repeat for 15 to 20 repetitions."

    Wireimage(Wireimage)

    Kate Hudson's back

Kate Hudson knows how to rock a backless dress! And while most of us are worried about getting perfectly toned abs, Kate is all too aware that keeping your back in tip-top shape isn't just about sculpting, it can help with posture and strengthening your core.

Floor raises are great at targeting the muscles of your upper back and shoulders. Simply lie facedown on the floor with your hands above your head in a Y shape. You can also vary this creating a T shape with your hands out to the side or an I shape with your hands straight above your head. Do 12 repetitions each, without resting between movements. Rest two minutes and repeat again.
